Book reviews

I always find new books to add to my collection. They serve as inspiration, tools or sources of information. The four books I review this week all serve as sources of information in the work I’m doing, as well as on a personal level.

The Crystal Bible is a must for anyone interested in crystals and their properties. It’s an extensive guide with photos and descriptions and in this one are over 200 crystals described. The book also includes information about how crystals are created, descriptions of their shapes and a quick reference section.
The Crystal Bible 2 adds another 200 crystals to those already described in the first book. Again with beautiful photos so it’s easy to recognize the one you’re looking for. The quick reference section contains other topics than the first book, including chakras and the directions. The two books pretty much cover all you will need as a reference for crystals.
Medicine Cards comes with a set of cards for readings, and a real book describing the symbolism of the 52 animal cards. A favourite book of mine when I want a quick idea of what attributes are attached to animals. I find it useful when I help others on a Shamanic Journey. The book also contains explanations of different card spreads, all based on Native American teachings.
If you’re looking for an extensive book upon animals symbolism and attributes, Animal Speak is a good reference guide. The descriptions include not only Native American views, but takes in meanings from other cultures as well. More than a 100 different animals and insects are described. The book also contains techniques and ceremonies to find your own spirit animals and how you can strengthen the communication with them.
