Healing Hands the Native American version of healing and energy work. Using hand placements and working with intuition; comfort and healing is offered to the receiver. It is unobtrusive, deeply relaxing and caring. A safe practice for anyone to receive. Some even report how they feel tingles through their body, see colours and seem to float.
I have written about how important touch is for our health and wellness. Healing Hands is touch taken further, with intention and ceremony. It is a way for the practitioner to focus and bring even more to the client on its own or in combination with other forms of bodywork.
Becoming the Hollow Bone and offering Healing Hands is becoming ceremony. You carry on ancient traditions of the Native Americans and offer humbleness and respect to Mother Earth, Creator and the world we live in.
Anybody can learn Healing Hands and you can give yourself and others. There’s a strong emphasis on healing ourselves first so we then can serve others.
When you work as a Hollow Bone, letting the energy/healing/whatever-it-is from Creator flow through you. You are the tool and not the one directing or controlling what is happening. This is an important aspect, and also why there are no secret symbols, set patterns you have to work in or specific things you need to do.
This is what the Hollow Bone is about. By us becoming entirely humble and emptying ourselves of our pride, arrogance, precognitions, ideas, wants and thoughts, we become the Hollow Bone and can then serve as a tool to facilitate wellness and healing. We don’t ourselves give healing or heal, we’re only the tool who facilitates it.
As an instructor of Healing Hands, I have learned the ceremonies, which includes the alter and smudging. You become ceremony, and you are taught how to lay the alter and the symbolism behind the directions, how to tie prayer ties and how to smudge yourself and your clients. And you learn how you can give yourself Healing Hands and how to offer it to others.
The actual initiation is a beautiful ceremony done in the circle where everybody participates. There’s nothing magic or mystic about it. It’s just a reminder and confirmation of the skills we already process.
Healing Hands is for everyone. The bodywork who wants to enhance his skills, the mother who wants to care for a sick child, the caregiver who wants to give comfort to elders, the couple who wants to become closer.
Giving Healing Hands an approach to serving as a channel for the love and healing provided to us by Creator – by whatever name we give him/she/it. It is spiritual, but not religious in its original form. You serve as the tool of Creator, simply facilitating the healing and letting the energies flow through you unobtrusively.
It is a beautiful way to give a respectful, caring and healing touch.
